Caldera VS Bend High 9/19/25

2024 Caldera Varsity Football Team

Caldera Seniors

Jaiden Blumenschein - RB/OLB #2

Jaiden has been a very consistent performer for the Wolfpack in his career. A kid as tough as they come. He will be a big part of our running game and offensively and is one of the best tacklers on defense. He has an endless motor.

Team Captain.

Lincoln Jennings - TE/LB #3

Lincoln comes back to us after taking a year off due to injury. Now healthy, Lincoln will bring physicality to our defense and a good pass catching skill set to the offense. Lincoln brings an edge the Wolfpack have been lacking.

Brody Whitcomb - WR/DL #11

Brody is one of our most gifted players with his athletic frame. He will be tough on opponents with his length on the DL and can cause matchup problems offensively. A jack of all trades, Brody will also excel as our punter.

Ty Hattenhauer - WR/DB #21

A 4-year starter for the Wolfpack. Gifted as one of the best pure football players on the roster. Ty’s footballing IQ will be a big part of our offense and defense. Coming off some challenging years with injury he is healthy and will play at a High level for the Wolfpack.

Owen Walker - OL/DL #55

A 2-way starter for both his Jr and Sr seasons. Overall, a 3-year starter who has an endless motor and is very quick off the ball. Great length on the DL and one of the leaders on the OL.

Team Captain

Dominic Tarabochia - OL/DL #66

Coming off his breakout season as a Junior,

the 2-way starter was poised for an excellent senior season when a summer lower leg injury derailed the start of his senior season.

Once he returns, Dom will be a big part of the DL with his length and play a role offensively on the OL. Team Captain.

Ethan Smith - OL/DL #67

Ethan has been one of the hardest working football players in his 4 year career. A career that has been derailed by injuries. Finally healthy, Ethan will be the core of our OL. A fearless and emotional leader, Ethan will be play at a high level. Team Captain.

TJ Callaway - OL/DL #77

TJ came into camp with an injury but is ready to hit the ground running. A very fundamentally sound football player, TJ brings a ton of physicality to both the OL/DL.

Yoltzin Ibanez - OL/DL #79

A 2-year starter Yoltzin will be play a big role on the interior of our DL. He will do the dirty work to assure our play makers can get to the football.

COACH’S OUTLOOK

I’d first like to first thank Ryan Cruz and the Caldera administration for the opportunity to be the Head Football Coach within this community. The support the parents and everyone involved with Athletics has shown me has been special.

I have been a part of the Caldera Football Coaching Staff since the inception of Varsity play in the 2022 season. I have coached the Defensive Backs for those years but also ran the entire Logistical operation behind the scenes. My football career started down in Southern Oregon, as an ‘09 graduate of Grants Pass High School I played for Tom Blanchard and John Musser. I was lucky enough to continue my athletic career at Linfield College and compete on the Varsity Football and Baseball teams under Joe Smith and Scott Brosius.

Before I get into the football specifics, I want to make sure I take the time to thank the coaching staff we’ve put together. The time we invest into these athletes is time away from our professional lives and personal lives. We do this because we’re passionate to see young men grow as athletes and I could not have asked for a better group of coaches. I also want to thank all our parents as well. Our community stretches geographically so getting rides into workouts, practices, etc. can be challenging but we feel we’ve gotten excellent parent buy-in during this cultural reset. Strong cultures are built by strong communities, and I’ve been impressed by the commitment this community has shown. Thank you, Parents.

Finally, I want to thank our seniors. They have stuck through some tough times and have committed to completing their senior seasons.

While it hasn’t been the most successful stints on the field, our seniors are committed to the cultural shift, so our younger athletes understand what the standard looks like moving forward. While small in overall number (9) they are all good football players and will each play a massive role with our on-field success. Thank you, seniors.

While I was very grateful to be a part of the prior staff, as I’ve taken control of the leadership of this program we have initiated a total cultural reset within the program. We lacked an identity, had glaring inefficiencies and we did not prioritize the correct things. Our staff has worked extremely hard this off season and preseason to implement a culture. While it takes time, our call to arms has been “Brick by Brick” however long it takes, we will get 1% better each day and pile on bricks until we have a fortress of culture.

This offseason we have implemented a first-class strength and agility program lead by me and Coach Jimmy Clarke who has spent 20+ years as a track and sprinting coach. We emphasize this program January-August working 2-3 days/week to increase our program strength and top speed.

We also attended George Fox Team Camp this past June in Newberg, OR. We had a great experience competing against all WIAA schools from up in Washington.

From a defensive perspective, I will lead the defense as the Defensive Coordinator this year. With my vast experience and success our program has had “in the back end” our defense will be built where we are strongest (defensive backs) and move down to the interior. We have Aaron Wells (DL Coach) returning for his 4th season on staff, have promoted Joven Kvortek (Corners) from our Frosh staff and have added Scott Lovemark (Linebackers) to the staff. Scott comes from Roseburg High School with over 30 years of coaching experience in the state. Tanner Hanson has also joined the staff as a defensive analyst. We will prioritize our pursuit and tackling and pride ourselves in our preparation each week.

Offensively is where we have made a bevy of changes, committing to an identity. We have lacked buy-in from the players in the past so our goal will be to firstly get the buy-in from the players with a new scheme by utilizing our overall team speed with our experience up front. Sal Cesario will lead our offense as the most tenured of all the Caldera staff playing a part since the inception of the program. Sal will work closely with newcomers Dane Iverson and Josh Rombach. Veteran Chuck Ladig will head up play calling duties for our sub varsity team and play an important role coaching the OL. Scott Bozich will work with the TE’s and coach our Special Teams.

While we are very excited for this upcoming year, we will not shy away from the work required to “bridge the gap” between our program and the successful programs within the IMC and across the state. We have a unique set up in this community where you can see our “neighbors” create culture from the ground up and ultimately get to those successes on the scoreboard. We also have “neighbors” that have invested heavily in culture year after year for a very long time…

We will take pride in doing it “The Wolfpack Way” but the reality is, we play in an extremely competitive league in Central Oregon and have scheduled 7 of 9 playoff football teams from 2024. We will take this challenge head on and improve each day on the field. Brick By Brick!

Go Pack!
